When your holiday season is full of relaxation along with occasions of overindulging on sweets, rich food and wine, there’s no better way to start the new year off then with a detoxification plan in place! All of our cells produce metabolic waste products into the bloodstream every day and these toxins pass through the liver to be filtered, metabolized and transformed for elimination. When we become inefficient at the removal of wastes, inflammation and illness can result.

Our primary organs of elimination include the skin, lungs, kidneys, liver and gallbladder (bowel). These organs are burdened by alcohol, caffeine, refined sugar, processed foods, heavy metals, pharmaceuticals and chemicals in our environment.

Case: Jeannie was a 70 year old woman who enjoyed travel in her retirement. She presented with an itchy rash on her chest, arms, back and thighs that had been worsening over the past 9 months. Jeannie’s bowel movements were sluggish and she indulged in wine, baked goods and took several prescription medications for over 20 years. The rash would not resolve with strong steroid cream from the Dermatologist and the red itchy bumps were interfering with social events and kept Jeannie awake nightly.

Skin rashes can often be a sign of an overwhelmed internal elimination process so together we formulated a plan for cleansing. Jeannie began weekly colonics and Decongestive Lymphatic therapy to move toxins out through her bowels and lymphatic system. I also recommended herbal liver support using milkthistle, dandelion root, artichoke, bupleurum and oregon grape root for 6 weeks.

Through colonic and lymphatic detoxification support Jeannie’s rash improved weekly and was resolved in 6 weeks. Jeannie was ecstatic and motivated to continue supporting her elimination pathways through whole organic foods, clean water and regular exercise along with maintenance colon hydrotherapy and lymphatic treatments.
