Heidi, CN, Nutrition & Colon Hydrotherapy
My name is Henrietta Nebel Ochsner, but please call me Heidi like everyone else (nicknames welcome!). I'm from New Orleans, Louisiana, but have lived in Seattle for the last 13 years and love it here! I love food, cooking, gardening, making music with my band and the amazing intricacies of the human body. When I first came to the Tummy Temple I just knew this job was for me. I was literally grilling Suzanna (my colon hydrotherapist) about job openings while I was on the table. I've now been at the Tummy Temple for over 6 years - time flies!
I have a biology BS from Indiana University and my Masters in Nutrition from Bastyr University. I also completed a post-graduate internship through Tulane University in New Orleans and am federally licensed as a Registered Dietitian (RD). My education as a nutritionist has been invaluable in my work as a colon hydrotherapist as well as allowing me to work with clients on a deeper level through holistic nutrition sessions.
In these one-on-one nutrition sessions we will go through your health history, your diet, your relationship to food and your goals. I can suggest diet changes and supplements that will help you in your journey towards optimal health and well-being. Some of my favorite areas include detoxification, digestive disorders and food sensitivities. As well, I offer grocery store tours that will arm you with the tools to make healthy and delicious choices from the modern day food jungle! Just overwhelmed looking in your own pantry? I also offer pantry overhauls to help you learn to discriminate between what to keep and what to toss! Nutrition can seem overwhelming with so many different people telling you to eat this or not eat that. I'm here to say that in my opinion there isn't just one diet that's right for everyone. Different people need different things at different times in their lives! On top of that, how you eat can be as important as what you eat.
Ok, ok, enough food talk ~ I'll save it for the sessions.
My overall philosophy includes my belief in the innate wisdom of the human body and that healing is always possible. I have second degree Reiki training and a keen interest in the mind/body connection that invariably affects us all. I have to say I have never had a job that feels so right! It is endlessly interesting, challenging and it just makes me feel good to help people have a happy belly!
What we are today comes from our thoughts of yesterday, and our present thoughts build our life of tomorrow. Our life is the creation of our mind.

Nettle tea is a fantastic cleanser for the kidneys. Ginger tea is warming and improves circulation to these organs. Enjoy a cup of each per day using the tea preparation and drinking time as a time to slow down and relax.Â
To make an 8 oz cup of Nettle tea, add 1 Tbsp of dried nettle leaves and 1 cup of boiling water together in a mug. Let it steep for 15-20 minutes. Strain into another cup. Add more boiling water to warm and honey to sweeten, if so desired. Note: Please use filtered or spring water as tap water is generally not very healthy to drink. Many people like it cold, as well. Consider making extra and keeping it in the fridge. It is ideal to drink it within 24 hours, though. To concentrate the tea, simply let it steep longer (up to 12 hours).
